Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award - HHS
The process for students to complete the 12 hours of community work required for this section of DoE tasks can be provided through Holmepride – Community in Action via Charlotte Smith: c.smith@holmfirthhigh.co.uk who administers the DoE for the school.
Once 12 hours of tasks have been completed, Holmepride-CiA will provide a written confirmation of the achievements completed.
Each task may vary and will be explained clearly what needs doing, tool equipment or materials provided to complete the task (except gloves which students need to bring themselves).
Some tasks, students will work with a parent or within an organised larger Holmepride-CiA event when parents have the option to join in if they want to.
Insurance Coverage
A basic info form is required so they are covered under our blanket insurance for all volunteers through Natural Kirklees.
You can download the form, prefill and bring it along to the event.
Under 16:
Will need to be supervised by an adult or parent/guardian.
Hi-vis tabards
Will be provided for all volunteers.
Equipment
Tools, equipment or materials provided to complete the task
A First Aid kit
Is always on hand to assist with any immediate ailments like cuts and insect bites and stings.,
What you will need:
- Gloves: gardening type would be ideal for:- litter picking, weeding, gardening projects like strimming, grass cutting and planting.
- Clothes: dress appropriately for weather conditions:- hats (sun or rain), boots or walking shoes.
- Drink: bring a flask for hot drink during Winter, bottled water or soft drink during warm weather.
